Soroptimist is an international organization for women who volunteer to improve the lives of women and girls. There are almost 80,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories who contribute time and financial support to community based and international projects that benefit women and girls.
Internationally, Soroptimists have representation at the United Nations, and have made great strides in creating a better world for those women and girls in third world countries, as well as raising awareness throughout the world on women's issues.
Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which determine the focus of their work in their communities. Club projects range from renovating domestic volence shelters to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls.
