2 handsSoroptimist International of Kawartha Lakes (SIKL) both participates in and partners with other community organizations to help women and girls achieve their full potential as individuals and members of our community.

Women's Resources
Every year since 2011: Volunteered in support of annual fundraising
2014: Co-Beneficiary of our 'Summer Social Pyjama Party' where members and guests provided new bedding, towels, linens, etc. for their shelter for abused women and their children.
2014: Donated toiletries

Kawartha Lakes Pregnancy Centre
2014: Hands-on Day of Service where members cleaned and painted the kitchen and entry way.
2013: In honour of the birth of Prince George, we celebrated at our 'Summer Social' with a 'Royal Baby Shower' and donated gifts to the Centre.
2013: Donated an infant car seat.

Kawartha Haliburton Victim Services
2014: assembled nearly 100 emergency kits for victims of violence
2013: donated trauma blankets

A Place Called Home Homeless Shelter
2017: April and December - baked and decorated lots of delicious sweets / desserts - to celebrate Easter and Christmas.
2016: Easter Bunny Cakes, trays of squares and hundreds of cookies delivered just before Easter.
2015: Prepared and cooked Easter Dinner for the residents.
2014: Co-Beneficiary of our 'Summer Social Pyjama Party' where members provided blankets, pillows, towels, etc.
2013 - 2014: Provided a custom built shelving unit and bins filled with over 100 personal hygiene kits for their clients.
2013: Hands-on Day of Service was spent cleaning, organizing and painting.
2013: Prepared and cooked Thanksgiving Dinner for the residents.
2013: Provided 25 new pillows for their residence.

The Kawartha Lakes Food Source
Each year since 2011: Soroptimist Saturdays volunteering in support of spring and holiday food drives.
2014: Provided items from the Costco Convoy 'Blitz', delivering food and household items donated by Costco, Peterborough

The Children's Aid Society
2014: Third year Fleming College Ecosystems Management Program had an enormous clothing drive and chose SIKL to donate the clothing. Members of our club sorted, bagged, and gave a big boost to our Christmas families.
2015, 2014, 2013, 2012: Adopted several families at Christmas, providing gifts for each family member, as well as grocery cards.

2016, 2017: Supported a local family at Christmas with gifts, food and food voucher for the whole family.

Isolated Women and Students on their own at Christmas
2017: Gift Bags were filled with personal items, a blanket, some Avon items, a few extras and treats, and were distributed through I.E. Weldon Guidance Department, the Food Source and Castle Keep Retirement.
2016: Gift Bags - complete with lots of items for both students and single women who are alone at Christmas. These were distributed through Women's Resources, Fenelon Falls Salvation Army Family Services, and I.E. Weldon Guidance Department.

Kawartha Mission
2016: Our ladies donated much-needed items like: blankets, clothing, diapers, towels, bedding, etc.. These items were shipped to northern Ontario for use by aboriginal peoples.

Little Dresses for Africa
2015: Our ladies gathered pillowcases, and after a little cutting, pinning and sewing, we made little sundresses to send to the Canadian office for 'Little Dresses for Africa'. What a fun project!
